2021 was a record year of newly discovered CVEs at 20,137 in the count, topping the 2020 record of 18,325. More software, increased digital footprint, equals a record number of vulnerabilities. This overwhelming number makes the defenders’ job even more difficult.
Keeping up with vulnerability inflation without a new approach to prioritization of real and critical security gaps is turning out to be mission impossible. It is time to automate security validation to really know you are acting on the right remediation priorities.
